A Bittersweet Goodbye

By Danielle Kireyczyk- Cntributing Writer

Well this year has flown by and CAPE has filled it with many events, including the 1st Annual Turkey Trot, Comedian Brad Williams, and our upcoming Gavin DeGraw Concert.  But these events could never be done if it were not for nine certain individuals. I have never been more proud of anything than I am now when I look at the CAPE Executive Board of 2008-2009. This is my time to say thank you and that I am going to miss each and every one of you guys next year.

Mike Rizzi, our Vice President, your motivation and dedication to your position blows me away. You will put any project’s importance before your own and it truly shows with your hard work and enthusiasm towards CAPE. Good luck with Graduate School next year and my only advice is to make sure you set aside more time for yourself and continue to have fun!

Phylicia Dunham, our Special Events chair, you’re amazing! Your love for life motivates me every day to work hard and appreciate the little things in life. I have never met a stronger person than you (or anyone who loves Red Bull as much as you)! Good luck in your future and I will meet you in Lee anytime!

James Perkins, our Treasurer, I don’t know how you do it. I hate accounting and anything with numbers, but this year you have done a fantastic job with our budgets. Not only that, you have also contributed many great ideas and is always willing to step up. I know you’ll do great as treasurer next year and you have all of my confidence for your future!

Amanda Mayberry, our Secretary, wow! You have done so much for CAPE and are one of the most dependable people I have ever met! I wish you luck next year with your busy schedule, but I know you are going to be fine! Congrats on an early graduation!

Heather Vendola, our Major Week chair and one of my best friends. You have grown so much and I can’t express how proud of you I am. Your events are so fun and you put your heart into them 100%. You have a true passion for life and I am excited for your future. I will miss you so much but I know you’re going to do great things!

Liz Irwin, our Music and Comedy chair, you are the hardest worker I have ever met! It feels like you put on about 54,762 events this year and you are still truckin’! I don’t know how you do it! You have to give yourself a lot of credit for this year and you should be proud! I can’t wait for SNHUstock and I know it is going to be an unbelievable event! Good luck with Graduate School and I look forward to going to CAPE with you next year as general members.

Holly Arnold, our Travel and Recreation Chair, congratulazioni! If you weren’t sure, it means congratulations in Italian. You have had a great year and you should be excited to plan more events in the future!  I look forward to your trips for the rest of the year and for next year and I know you will do a fantastic job! Congratulations on your second year as Travel and Recreation chair!

Tiffany Lyon and Steph Barry, our advisors, you guys rock! Both of you were new to your positions, yet handled them as if you have been in them for years! Your professionalism and organic sense of motivation is inspiring and extremely honorable. I am envious of the people that get to work with you guys in the future and wish you could be my advisors for life. I will miss you two so much, but you know I will always be visiting! Thanks for everything this year!

It is a bitter sweet feeling to be leaving the CAPE Team, but I know next year’s executive board will continue its success! Rizzi, Perkins, and Arnold will be returning to their current positions along with five new executive board members. Joining them will be, Brittneylyn Fitzpatrick, President, Kayla Diskin, Secretary, JoAnna Carpentier, Music and Comedy Chair, Mary Kayajanian, Major Weeks Chair, and Kelly Haskell, Special Events chair. The future is always looking bright for CAPE in my eyes and I wish them well! Congratulations 2009-2010 Executive Board…you know I am only an email away!
