Dressing For SuccessBy Chance Clutter- Contributing Writer During the first week of April, the president of the Accounting Association, Martha Johnson, coordinated the Dress For Success Night with the Career Development Center and the SNHU Alumni office. The event was held in Walker Auditorium and featured guest speakers from George's Apparel and Alapage who each discussed tips for making that great first impression on the job interview. With racks of clothing items and the help of student volunteers, the discussion provided excellent information for all of those in attendance. There was even a raffle at the end of the evening with gift certificates for each store for two lucky students! For those who could not attend, here are some tips that you can use to "dress for success" in the future:

Remember, 90% of your body is typically covered in clothing, and that is why your appearance is so important. To an employer, you are not just a potential employee; you are a walking advertisement of the company. If your attire does not fit with their company image, then you have eliminated yourself from the job before saying a word. Be a professional. Dress for success. Remember, it's your career, what have you done lately? |
