Spring Has Sprung for Phi Omega PsiBy Ashley Burke- Contributing Writer Now that spring is here, the sisters of Phi Omega Psi have been busy springing into action to do what they do best: philanthropy and campus events. During the last week of February, the sisters combined efforts with the Wellness Center in the successful Jean Drive for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Throughout the week, the sisters collected 90 pairs of jeans that were all donated to the New Horizons in Manchester. In exchange for jeans, all those who donated were then entered to win multiple raffles including movie tickets, gift baskets, and a variety of other gift certificates. However, the Jean Drive wasn’t the only philanthropic effort the sisters of Phi Omega Psi donated their time and effort to. On March 14, the sisters and Happy Birthday Visitors greeted residents of Mt. Carmel whose birthdays were in March with flowers and birthday cards. Beyond the sisters' monthly philanthropic efforts, the girls also held their annual Fish Wish event where over a hundred students came and won themselves a pet goldfish. For some winners, the goldfish was their first pet, making the event especially fun. The event was held on April 8th , from 8–10 p.m. in the pub, and 135 fish were given out with goldfish food and fish bowls. Some other fun and exciting events that the sisters will be partaking in include SNHU Stock and this year's "Sisterhood BBQ." This year's SNHU Stock is being held on April 25th , and it will have an environmental theme. For this event, Phi Omega Psi will be cosponsoring a "plant-a-flower" event with the sisters of Phi Delta Beta. Pots, soil, and flowers will be provided, so be sure to swing by and liven up your dorm room with your very own plant. The sisters will also be catering to the cravings for some summery barbeque food on April 29th between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Greek sisterhood community sponsored event, "Sisterhood BBQ." So bring your friends to the Apartment Quads for some good barbeque food and to meet the sisters of Phi Omega Psi, Phi Delta Beta, and Kappa Delta Phi (Kappa Chi). |
