SNHU Women's Tennis championshipBy Sinziana Scoarta- Staff Writer The women’s tennis team started practice in January at the YMCA center in Goffstown getting ready for the spring season. The two months of preparation lead to a 7-2 victory on March 6th, against Pace University, marking a successful opening of the season. The singles wins were marked by Amber Chandronnait, Catalina Echeverry, Lauren Nigrelli, Alison Warring and Christine Cole. The doubles wins were the hard work of the Chandronnait-Echeverry and Nigrelli-Waring duos. Chandronnait’s meet with the singles NE 10 player of the year, Pace senior Natalija Subotic, concluded with a stellar victory by the SNHU athlete. According to Coach Gregory Coache, Meghan Welch was unable to play due to health issues but she will be returning for the following games. Christie Cole, a freshman, replaced Welch. As listed on Southern New Hampshire University’s Athletics Page the results are as follows: Singles: Doubles: The team also took advantage from a weekend at Martha’s Vineyard where the doubles played with the island teams. The team is currently ranked 4th in the ITA East Region. On March 20th they will be travelling to Stonehill College for a 3:00 match. |
